The second episode of Sakamoto Days brings clarity to the story of Taro and Aoi while adding a new member to the team!

2025, as had already been anticipated by many animation studios, will be a year in which numerous best-selling manga and manhwa will receive an anime adaptation and among these is Sakamoto Days, written and illustrated by Yuto Suzuki and taken over by the Netflix animation team!

The plot of Sakamoto Days wants to tell a little about the life of those in Japan who are part of groups that work in the shadows at the service of the Yakuza or for the black market. In our case, Taro Sakamoto was one of the most ruthless assassins known in the Japanese area who, when he found the love of Aoi, decided to abandon the criminal world to start a family. After his retirement and drastically changing his appearance, he is now the silent owner of a convenience store that he runs with his family, but as many know the world of dirty work hardly allows members to easily abandon ship...

Sakamoto Days: a legend that walks

The gogoanime of a comic nature, but where action is certainly not lacking, is almost focused on idolizing the figure of Sakamoto who now apparently seems like an old man out of shape, but who actually hides an unprecedented strength. All this is done thanks to the character of Shin Asakura, known in the first episode, who thanks to his telepathic skills always shows the true potential of what he defines as an idol and hero, especially considering that in most of the episode, Sakamoto never speaks and we get to know his intentions precisely from his thoughts.

Precisely this relationship of admiration and fear at the same time is often used as a comical sketch during the anime, in which at every misstep of Shin his telepathy shows him how Mr. Sakamoto could easily kill him or adds character to the thoughts that pass in the mind of his boss. In this episode, we also meet a new central character namely Lu Shaotang, a girl who just like Shin and Sakamoto comes from a shady background and who is taken under the wing of Taro in the shop.

Sakamoto Days: No one is as scary as his own wife

In addition to the knowledge of Lu Shaotang, this episode is very relevant as we begin to discover the real reasons why Sakamoto, despite his talent and possibilities, has abandoned violence for love. In fact, when Shin tells how Sakamoto had saved him the night before from their former family, at the mere mention of the word "killed", Aoi explodes into a rage reminding Taro of his promise and remembering the rules established at the wedding.

This episode also serves to make you understand the importance that Aoi and Nana, Taro and Aoi's daughter, have for the story and is not limited to just being the protagonist's family as it happens in most modern hianime.

Currently, even if only two episodes have been released, we have high expectations for this title, especially if you already know the story thanks to the manga or even if you have seen a few chapters by pure chance. In one case or another, at least on Saturday night, we will always have a new episode to enjoy and comment on!

Sakamoto Days: Review

Sakamoto Days, even if it is only at the beginning and much of the story is still to be discovered and understood, has excellent cards in play. In its favor, it has an excellent pacing of the story where we have many plot elements in each episode without being too complex or too serious at the same time, in fact, the idea of dampening the seriousness with stupid sketches allows for greater focus on the details. The only flaw in my opinion is the opening which lacks a real push, but in this case, Netflix comes to the rescue with the "Skip Intro" function.
